It starts off with good intentions. You’re recommitting to your health, cleaning out the pantry, skipping takeout, and aiming to eat smarter. You even walk past your old go-to treats—the cookies, the chips, the pint of Ben & Jerry’s—and instead reach for something that looks healthier. Maybe it’s protein ice cream, a fiber-packed “keto” bar, or some sugar-free chocolate that promises to curb cravings without consequences.

The label says “high protein,” “low carb,” “guilt-free.” It must be the right choice, right?

You feel virtuous for making the swap… until you’re 45 minutes in, still hungry, still thinking about cookies, and now battling a weird aftertaste and a bloated stomach.
